Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern New Jersey Earns Coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award

Award reflects businesses’ consistently high level of customer service

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern NJ has been awarded the prestigious 2011 Angie’s List Super Service Award, an honor bestowed annually on approximately 5 percent of all the businesses rated on the nation’s leading provider of consumer reviews on local service providers.

“Only a fraction of the businesses rated on Angie’s List can claim the sterling service record of being a Super Service Award winner because we set a high bar,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “The fact that Outdoor Lighting Perspectives can claim Super Service Award status speaks volumes about its dedication to consumers.

Owner Norm Cohen said “We try very hard to do the right thing for our customers.  It’s very gratifying to be recognized for that”.

Angie’s List Super Service Award winners have met strict eligibility requirements including earning a minimum number of reports, an exemplary rating from their clients and abiding by Angie’s List operational guidelines.

Ratings are updated daily on Angie’s List, but members can find the 2011 Super Service Award logo next to business names in search results on AngiesList.com.

Angie’s List collects consumer reviews on local contractors and doctors in more than 500 service categories. Currently, more than 2 million consumers across the U.S. rely on Angie’s List to help them make the best hiring decisions. Members get unlimited access to local ratings via Internet or phone, exclusive discounts, the Angie’s List magazine and help from the Angie’s List complaint resolution service. Landscape Lighting and Ponds and Waterfalls, oh my!

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives is very pleased to be involved in a special outdoor living event with Jaak Harju’s  Atlantis Watergardens in Denville.     “A Moonlight Pond Party” on Friday evening, October 7, 2011 from 5 to 8pm will preview Atlantis’ new Garden Design Center at 3163 Route 10 East in Denville, NJ.

Gardeners and water gardeners and anyone who enjoys spending time in their yard will appreciate this brand new Water Garden and Design Center that will be a resource for great ideas and expertise.  And of course there will be a variety of garden lighting on display.

Atlantis is the premier pond and pondless waterfall vendor in the area.  If rainwater harvesting and sustainability with a beautiful aesthetic are a priority, you may want to speak with Jaak and his team.    They are preparing to open a brand new beautiful garden center in Denville, with the landscape lighting provided by Northern New Jersey’s premier outdoor lighting company, us!  At this installation we’ve used a variety of landscape lighting techniques and included both quartz-halogen and LED light sources.    Ponds and waterfalls, and beautiful outdoor lighting are perfect complements for people who love to spend time outdoors, enjoying their homes in expanded ways and during elongated seasons.

If you are interested in seeing some pretty interesting water features, custom landscape lighting and other gardening vendors on display, you may want to stop by the preview party:  “A Moonlight Pond Party”  on Friday, October 7 from 5 to 8pm, right on Route 10 in Denville, NJ. Refreshments will be served.    Be sure to talk to Norm about custom outdoor lighting for your garden, patio, yard, or architecture.  We are known for setting up evening lighting demonstrations that show you how the lighting will look before you make your decision.

Please call JoAnn at 973-627-0515 to let them know you’re planning on attending, or call Deborah in our office at 973-486-0819.   Please tell a friend who may be interested, and ask them to tell us you sent them!

Planning for Outdoor Lighting

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Outdoor lighting is truly an art, and we’re happy to share tips that will help you get the most beautiful and efficient  results.  Whether you are building a new home from scratch or re-working your yard or garden it makes sense to take some simple steps to ease the process of installing eco-friendly low voltage outdoor lighting.

1.  Place an electric outlet in all future transformer locations – at least one near the front and one near the rear of your home.  The outlets should be placed in discreet locations, such as behind shrubbery or near other utilities like A/C units.  Tip: a garage or basement may also work for locating landscape lighting transformers, but outdoor outlets have the advantage that no access is needed into your home for future service.

2. Have your electrician install all landscape lighting outlets with GFCI protection and with in-use covers.  Any new electrical circuits for landscape lighting should be wired for 20 amps.

3. Place a 2″ diameter conduit under all concrete/stone walkways and/or driveways where you might feel that future lighting will be needed. This will facilitate the running of wires on either side of the walkways/driveways. These conduits could be used for outdoor lighting purposes as well as stereo speakers, irrigation, etc.

Important: Assure that these conduit lines are clearly marked and easy to find when they are needed in the future. If you set up a usable/memorable system (i.e., 2 feet from where the driveway meets the sidewalk or parallel to the curb or put a small notch on either side of the driveway/walkway) you should be able to locate the conduits for years to come. Keep a copy of the plans and clearly mark them for future review.

These are simple and inexpensive tips that can make future landscape lighting installations much easier.  At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern NJ we offer complete design, installation and maintenance of high quality landscape lighting.  Outdoor Lighting is all we do.  So if you’re in the dark ;-) , and want to speak to the NJ outdoor lighting specialists, call or contact us.

Please feel free to call us with any questions, or to request a site visit for your new project.  Good luck!

Landscape Lighting at Morristown, NJ Home Show

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern New Jersey will be exhibiting the latest landscape lighting fixtures and outdoor lighting technology at the North Jersey Spring Home Show at the National Guard Armory, 450 Western Ave. Morristown, NJ – on January 27, 28 & 29, 2011.  You can find us at Booth 507 along the north wall of the exhibition hall.

According to the sponsor,  The Home & Landscape Show is a great way to find what you need for your home interior & exterior. Showcasing the latest trends in kitchen, bath and outdoor remodeling this expo is the one place to talk to professionals and produce quality information.

Norm Cohen, owner of  Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern NJ says  “I’ve enjoyed meeting North Jersey homeowners and landscape contractors at the Morristown shows.    I think for homeowners the nicest thing about a home show, is you get to meet the owner of the company or key personnel and ask them questions face-to face.       Our display gives people a taste of what our landscape and architectural lighting can do for their homes.  Being there gives homeowners  an opportunity to ask us questions about planning and implementing an outdoor lighting scheme.  Sometimes we meet people who are having problems with their lights, and may need service, repair or maintenance, and we can answer questions about that.  Many people who we first met at home shows have gained a level of comfort with us, and called us many months later when they became ready to do their garden lighting, landscape lighting or architectural lighting projects. ”

“We’d love to see you at the Morristown Home Show.  If that is not convenient, please call us at 973-486-0819 or comment to the blog.”

LED Outdoor Lighting at Springfest

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern NJ enjoyed SpringFest this past weekend.  Northern NJ homeowners were excited about the new LED fixtures and commercial lighting fixtures we displayed.    The LED rope lighting for outdoor applications was also a big hit.   The LED fixtures, which are our most eco-friendly type of landscape lighting,  now have impressive brightness and excellent color rendition, unlike the LED’s of the past.

Garden enthusiasts had a chance to discuss their landscape lighting questions with Norm Cohen personally.    One of the most popular fixtures for gardeners is our unique half path light, which illuminates a path on side and floods the plantings behind it with light.

We met several homeowners who we will be contacting shortly to arrange FREE nighttime demonstrations.
